Our team pairs clinical expertise with compassionate care to help you realize your dream of parenthood. We will walk with you every step of the way, from the initial consultation, through testing and diagnosis, to treatment and pregnancy.

When patients visit us, we usually begin with a complete fertility evaluation to identify any barriers to conception and pregnancy. Dr. Vandermolen will gather a complete medical history, order bloodwork, request a semen analysis and perform a physical exam and pelvic ultrasound. Once he has the full picture, Dr. Vandermolen can determine the best course of action.
Should you consider IVF?
Whenever possible, Dr. Vandermolen will utilize less complicated treatments to address infertility. These options include medication to induce ovulation or extra ovulations (supraovulation), surgery to correct physical abnormalities and artificial insemination, or IUI. However, these measures sometimes aren’t enough to help certain patients welcome a baby. In these cases, Dr. Vandermolen may recommend IVF, or in vitro fertilization.
- Women diagnosed with endometriosis or tubal blockages
- Male partners with a very low sperm count
- Individuals with declining ovarian reserve or lower egg quality
- Genetic issues in one or both partners
- Couples experiencing unexplained infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss
Understanding the basics of in vitro fertilization
With IVF, our fertility doctor will need to retrieve your eggs before they emerge from the follicles in the ovaries. We will monitor your progress through blood tests and ultrasounds. At the appropriate time, Dr. Vandermolen will retrieve the eggs during a brief outpatient procedure. In our laboratory, our skilled embryologists will combine the eggs with sperm from your male partner. Dr. Vandermolen will transfer one or sometimes more of the resulting embryos of the highest quality to your uterus. The hope is that the embryo will implant and develop into a healthy pregnancy and baby.
